Evergreen launched a new local service along the west coast of South America in May. The added offering connects northern Chile with Peru using a single container ship, which will have bi-weekly departures.
"The new link, called Peru North Chile (PNC), will be offered through the purchase of slots on X-Press Feeders and Cosco Shipping's Chile-Peru X-Press (CPX / CHX 2) service," according to Alphaliner.
For its part, Evergreen stressed that "this new service will expand the Evergreen Line network by providing a connection from Peru to northern Chile, further extending its coverage to the Bolivian market."
The CPX/CHX 2 service has the rotation Callao, Iquique, Arica, Matarani, Ilo, Chancay and Callao, offering weekly departures using the vessels Lakonia (2,586 TEU), operated by Cosco Shipping, and the EA Gatun (1,296 TEU), operated by X-Press Feeders.
In line with what the consultant pointed out, Evergreen will participate in the full service, with the exception of calls at Matarani and Ilo. "The slot agreement of the Taiwanese shipping company seems to have been concluded only with Cosco Shipping, given that the Taipei-based shipping line only announces one vessel (the Lakonia) and bi-weekly departures," it specified.
"The PNC service will allow Evergreen to connect northern Chile to and from the Far East, through transshipment at the Port of Chancay, Peru, from where the first departure will take place on May 13," it added.
Meanwhile, Evergreen reported that "the inaugural voyage of the Lakonia 334 will depart from Chancay on May 13, 2026, with a fixed 14-day rotation. The port rotation will be: Chancay – Callao – Iquique – Arica – Chancay."
"The PNC service further strengthens Evergreen's competitiveness in the West Coast of South America market, offering customers greater direct connectivity and highly reliable service options," it added.
Although the shipping company scheduled the inaugural voyage for Wednesday, May 13, Iquique Terminal Internacional (ITI) officially announced the return of Evergreen on Tuesday, May 5, after almost five years without operations at the Chilean port concessionaire.
"The incorporation of Evergreen not only reinforces the Chancay Express service proposal but also represents the return of the shipping company to the concessioned terminal after almost five years without operations there, thus reaffirming its confidence in ITI's operational and commercial capabilities. The handling of the vessel Lakonia at Site 3 marked this new beginning," ITI communicated.
"This service is especially relevant for Bolivia, as it strengthens its access to new markets. From Iquique, we continue to work to be a strategic partner for our Bolivian clients and offer them solutions aligned with their needs," expanded ITI Commercial Manager, Francisco Neira.
