Delfin Approves $5 Billion Floating LNG Export Project Off Louisiana Coast
Delfin Midstream announced a final investment decision for Delfin FLNG 1, the first floating LNG export facility in U.S. waters with an export capacity of 4.4 million tonnes per year. Backed by BlackRock's Global Infrastructure Partners, MOL, Vitol, and Diameter Capital Partners, the $5 billion project will be located roughly 40 miles offshore Louisiana. The first vessel is expected to begin LNG production in 2030, with authorization to utilize up to three FLNG vessels with a combined export capacity of 13.2 million tonnes annually.
