UK's Port of Blyth Targets Offshore Wind Dominance
The Port of Blyth in the United Kingdom is investing $135 million to expand infrastructure for North Sea offshore wind operations through the Battleship Wharf expansion scheme. The project includes reclaiming approximately three hectares of land and up to 260 meters of quay extensions to accommodate larger vessels and next-generation offshore components. The expansion comes weeks after the Crown Estate announced a new leasing round for 6GW of offshore wind capacity in the North Sea, expected to create up to 10,000 direct jobs and generate over $16.2 billion in economic activity.
