Brazil's Complexo do Pecém has solidified a strategic advancement in the international clean energy market after formalizing a commercial cooperation alliance with the Port of Rotterdam (Netherlands) and the Duisport port facility (Germany).
The agreement, signed during the global World Hydrogen 2026 fair held in the Dutch city of Rotterdam, aims to enable the supply and export of green hydrogen molecules produced in the state of Ceará to the European Union market starting in 2029.
The official signing ceremony was attended by King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, who visited the Brazilian company's pavilion to learn about the details of the South American energy hub.
Pecém's business delegation, responsible for negotiations in Europe, was led by the entity's president, Max Quintino, accompanied by the directors and managers of the port complex's operations, engineering, projects, industrial business, and innovation areas.
This initiative aligns with the global energy transition strategy and seeks to position northern Brazil as a benchmark logistics hub for the production and distribution of next-generation fuels.
According to the Brazilian port authorities, the alliance with the Rotterdam and Duisport terminals - two of the most important logistics and industrial centers on the European continent - will streamline the creation of a sustainable foreign trade corridor that will directly connect Brazilian energy supply with Europe's industrial demand.
