US and Iran to Resume Technical Talks in Doha on Strait of Hormuz
Iranian and U.S. technical teams are expected to meet in Doha following weekend strikes that threatened a fragile interim peace accord signed on June 17. Mediators have established de-escalation channels as both sides work to manage the Strait of Hormuz, through which a fifth of the world's oil and liquefied natural gas transits. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced that $6 billion out of $12 billion in frozen assets would be released following the accord, which includes sanctions waivers on Iran's oil and petrochemical sectors.
