Goods traffic at the Port of Barcelona totaled 23,875,715 tons between January and April of this year, a 5.8% increase compared to the same period last year. Bulk liquids, which exceeded 6 million tons, continue to drive these results with a 23.7% increase, with vehicle traffic also showing a notable rise.
Among bulk liquids, the excellent results for chemical products stand out, totaling 1.7 million tons (+52.1%), as does natural gas (+44.2%).
Bulk solids moderate their decline compared to previous months, with a -4% decrease, despite good results for potash (24.9%), common salt (21.7%), soybean meal (11.8%), and cement and clinker (5.7%).
Container traffic reached 1.267 million TEUs, an increase of 2.7%. For full containers, which best reflect the state of the hinterland economy, imports grew by 3%; exports decreased by -13.6%, and transshipments increased by 5.5%. Full container traffic with the Port's main foreign markets maintained the trend of recent months, with notable growth with Vietnam (22.3%), Turkey (8.9%), Egypt (4.7%), and Brazil (7%).
Automobile traffic, which reached 244,853 units (+7%), maintains the upward trend of recent months and grew in imports, exports, and transshipments. Electric or hybrid automobiles also maintained growth and represent 17.8% of the total vehicles handled at the Port of Barcelona.
During the first four months of 2026, Intermodal Transport Unit (ITU) traffic grew by 2.8% thanks to positive figures for traffic with the Balearic Islands (0.9%) and especially with Italian ports (+7.4%).
Between January and April, a total of 1,169,616 passenger movements occurred, 5% more than in 2025. Ferry passengers grew by 1.3%. In the cruise sector, during April, a total of 337,317 cruise passengers docked at the Port of Barcelona, -16.1% less than in the same month of 2025. Between January and April, 497,971 people visited the city of Barcelona*.
