On Wednesday, May 27th, the Port of Rio de Janeiro welcomed two professors and 22 MBA students from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia (USA), as part of the Global Immersion Experience (GIE) program. This marked the fifth visit of North American academic groups to the port in 2026.
The program was led by port technician Ernesto Brito and port guard Gustavo Miranda. The activities began with an institutional presentation on the infrastructure, cargo handling, logistical and economic importance of the Port of Rio de Janeiro, and its strategic role in Brazilian foreign trade.
Following this, the students visited the Port Security Command and Control Center (CCCSP), where they learned about the video surveillance systems and security measures for protecting port areas and supporting operations.
The itinerary concluded with a technical visit to the port facilities, providing participants with a practical view of the operational dynamics of the port complex. The group also visited the MultiRio container terminal, where they were welcomed by Planning Manager Sandro Fellipe and Commercial Assistant Juliana Hernandes.
This initiative contributes to the technical development of the students by bringing them closer to the reality of the port sector and strengthens cooperation between PortosRio and academic institutions, promoting the exchange of knowledge and the integration of theory and practice.
