Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) has added the new container ship OOCL Chancay to its fleet. This vessel will operate between Peru and Asia, strengthening the trade route between the Asian continent and South America.
The shipping company highlighted that the ship will offer calls at the Port of Chancay in Peru, considered by OOCL as a strategic point in the Pacific.
According to the shipping company, the integration of the OOCL Chancay will boost efficiency and competitiveness in logistics chains between Peru and Asia. Furthermore, it will benefit its customers with greater reliability, better access to Asian markets, and more efficient operations.
It is worth remembering that, as part of the company's efforts to strengthen maritime links between both territories, a new direct and fast connection between Chancay and China was implemented in 2025.
This service was a modification of the Transpacific Latin Pacific 5 (TLP5)-Express service, which began operating in May 2024 with the aim of expanding OOCL's coverage in emerging markets, but at that time focused on connecting Mexico with Chinese trade.
