With the aim of safeguarding national road connectivity, the Vice Minister of Transport, Juan del Carmen Haro Muñoz, held an important working meeting with the Vice Minister of Foreign Trade, César Llona Silva, focused on coordinating efforts and timely identifying the necessary preventive interventions in the most vulnerable routes in anticipation of the El Niño phenomenon.
During the intersectoral meeting, the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) reported that, regarding concessioned routes, operating companies carry out immediate interventions in emergencies or develop prevention works with state funding, ensuring transitability at critical points.
Likewise, the MTC instructed the technical teams of Provías Nacional (PVN), Provías Descentralizado (PVD), and the General Directorate of Transport Programs and Projects (DGPPT) to map and monitor the road corridors identified by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR), in order to identify who would be in charge of intervention in case of emergency.
This joint effort not only seeks to protect the country's commercial and tourist flow but also aims to provide maximum safety to the population by adopting effective preventive measures.
With these high-level coordinations, the MTC reaffirms the commitment of the Transport sector to work in a unified and preventive manner against emergencies that the El Niño phenomenon may cause.
