The Port of Barcelona celebrated today the first Port Police Day of Barcelona, a new event to highlight the work carried out by its officers, ensuring security within the port area. The ceremony included the annual presentation of credentials to new officers of the force, with the main novelty being the awarding of medals and public commendations, recognitions that certify the commitment and professionalism of the Port Police officers.
In this regard, particularly meritorious actions were individually and collectively recognized, as well as those officers who have accumulated 25 years of service. The event also included the presentation of several recognitions to officers from other forces such as the Mossos d'Esquadra, the Guardia Urbana of Barcelona, the Policía Nacional, the Guardia Civil, and Firefighters, who have stood out for their collaboration with the Port of Barcelona and its Port Police.
The celebration of the event is a result of the internal Regulations of honors, commendations, and distinctions of the Port Police of Barcelona, approved by the Board of Directors last December, which, in addition to establishing the day, outlined the requirements for the granting of honors, commendations, and distinctions.
"It is only fair to recognize the daily effort of the Port Police officers, who ensure the security 24 hours a day for the 40,000 people who work at the Port of Barcelona. Their effort and professionalism make us especially proud, and the recognitions we have awarded today are a small token of that," expressed the President of the Port of Barcelona, José Alberto Carbonell, during the ceremony.
The head of the Port Police, Jaume Molina, also highlighted the commitment of the entire force, emphasizing "the high level of commitment" of the force, as well as the "will to serve, proximity, and professionalism" of the officers to "become even greater when service needs require it." In this regard, Jaume Molina reviewed the various tasks of the force, which cover areas such as traffic management, security, and assistance, with the added complexity of carrying out these tasks in an environment like the Port of Barcelona.
