The Argentine shipyard Tandanor has completed a repair process on the vessel Asturiano III, a container ship with a length of 148 meters and a beam of 23 meters.
The facility detailed that, during the period of work on the vessel, the boilermaking workshop carried out the renewal of outer strakes and the assembly of fairleads, while the boilermaking sector disassembled and updated the filter box in the engine room.
For its part, the mechanical workshop replaced butterfly valves, provided assistance during the vulcanization of the external seal of the shaft line, and performed clearance measurements of the shaft line of the steering system.
Finally, Tandanor's quality control area performed the corresponding non-destructive tests, by applying penetrating liquids to the weld beads, verifying the quality of the repairs carried out.
The Asturiano III, built in 2007, is part of the fleet of the shipping company Patagonia Shipping Lines and performs cargo cabotage between the ports of southern Argentina, including Ushuaia, Comodoro Rivadavia and Bahía Blanca. The container ship has a nominal capacity to transport 1,096 TEU and 220 reefer connections.
