The delegation participated in a meeting presided over by the Director of Maritime, Fluvial and Lacustrine Traffic, General Prefect Néstor Alberto Kiferling, who gave a presentation on the Coast Guard System, a key tool in the detection, tracking and monitoring of vessels before their entry into port areas.
Likewise, personnel from the Secretariat for International Affairs presented on the Prefecture's participation in forums, organizations and regional and international cooperation networks, as well as the technical cooperation and training proposals offered by the Institution, with special emphasis on those developed in English.
Tour of port terminals
On the other hand, the foreign authorities carried out a tour of different port terminals in the country, an activity coordinated by personnel from the Judicial Police, Maritime Protection and Ports Directorate, between August 10 and 13, where they were accompanied to the Mar del Plata Regional Port Consortium, the Almirante Storni and Comandante Luis Piedrabuena docks, including their Terminals 2 and 3, in Puerto Madryn and, Exolgan Container Terminal S.A., in Dock Sud.
In this exchange, the measures implemented in maritime and port protection were analyzed, and the tasks carried out by both the Prefecture and the visited facilities were learned. In this context, good practices and main strengths observed were highlighted, as well as compliance with maritime protection measures and the importance of technological use in the control, monitoring and surveillance of port areas.
