Over 100 Tons of Drugs Detected in Shipments at Ports of Arica, Valparaíso, and San Antonio
Chilean authorities detected 1,080.8 tons of drug-impregnated timber at the ports of Arica, San Antonio, and Valparaíso, marking the largest seizure in Chile's history. Of this cargo, between 10% and 20% consists of illicit substances, amounting to approximately 100 tons of cocaine hydrochloride and ketamine. The operation, following six months of investigation, identified 45 containers and uncovered a sophisticated criminal method of chemical impregnation in forestry products originating from Bolivia and destined for international markets.
