Passenger ferry Andros King strikes Rafina breakwater during arrival
The passenger ferry Andros King struck the northern breakwater at the Port of Rafina on the evening of June 8th while arriving from Mykonos via Tinos and Andros, causing significant damage to the concrete structure. The vessel was carrying 283 passengers, 67 private vehicles, 13 trucks, 10 motorcycles and a crew of 60. Despite the severity of the collision, no injuries were reported and no marine pollution was detected. The ferry was cleared to resume service and departed the following morning at 07:50 a.m. The Port Authority of Rafina has opened an investigation to examine navigational, operational and environmental factors.
