Iran Demands an Israeli Ceasefire in Order to Continue Hormuz Peace Talks
The Strait of Hormuz remained largely closed on Monday as Iran suspended peace talks with U.S. officials, demanding Israel limit its offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon. The Iranian Broadcasting network (IRIB) threatened to activate Houthi anti-shipping operations in the Red Sea if ceasefire violations continue. Despite Trump's efforts to mediate, Netanyahu signaled Israeli operations would continue as circumstances required. Meanwhile, 300 vessels have submitted applications to transit the waterway, with U.S. forces coordinating about 70 transits to date.
