Eight Injured During Cargo Ship Fire in Hamburg
The fire department in Hamburg, Germany, responded on Sunday, May 24, to an intense fire aboard the Jolyn, a 3,600 dwt general cargo ship operated by Royal Wagenborg, docked at Grevenhofkai in the Kuhwerderhafen section of the port. Eight people were seriously injured—one firefighter and six crewmembers, plus one person treated at the scene—with seven transported to hospitals. The effort involved approximately 80 emergency personnel and required three hours to extinguish the fire, which originated in a storage area in the vessel's stern.
