South African Port Authority Signs Agreements with Terminal Operators
Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) signed 11 agreements with fuel and chemical terminal operators at the Island View complex, effective for 25 years, under the instruction of Minister Barbara Creecy. The decision faces a legal challenge from Capricorn Petrochemicals, which alleges favoritism towards historical operators such as BP and Vitol to the detriment of local black-owned companies. Island View, in the Port of Durban, is critical for South Africa, channeling approximately three-quarters of the country's fuel imports.
