The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), through the National Port Authority (APN), inaugurated the tenth edition of the Modern Port Management Course of the TrainForTrade Program of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), an initiative aimed at strengthening the knowledge and capabilities of professionals in the port sector.
In this edition, 26 representatives of the port sector begin a two-year training process comprising eight specialized modules. The program will address topics related to international trade and transport, port management, and the challenges of sustainability, with the aim of contributing to a more efficient and competitive operation of the country's ports.
The training involves the participation of national and international experts from public and private organizations. As part of the academic training, participants will have access to pedagogical workshops, technical assistance, specialized conferences, publications, scholarships, and internship opportunities in foreign port terminals.
The TrainForTrade Program has been developed worldwide since 1996 and has been implemented in Peru since 2009 thanks to the joint work between UNCTAD and the APN. To date, more than 230 professionals have benefited from this initiative, which seeks to strengthen the human capital linked to the National Port System.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by representatives of the National Port Authority, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, the Valenciaport Foundation, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism, as well as institutions linked to the port and logistics sector.
With these strategic alliances, the MTC strengthens the capacities of professionals in the port sector, contributing to greater efficiency, sustainability, and competitiveness of national ports.
