Expedition Cruise Ship Hondius Arrives in Rotterdam to Begin Disinfection

The expedition cruise ship Hondius docked in Rotterdam on May 18 with a skeleton crew of 25 to undergo extensive disinfection following a hantavirus outbreak. The World Health Organization reports 11 total cases, including two deaths, with 22 people disembarked and placed in quarantine. Oceanwide Expeditions estimates the cleaning operation will require three to four days, with the ship resuming full operations on June 13.
