ASIPONA Manzanillo holds environmental summer course for children

With the purpose of fostering in new generations the knowledge and appreciation of Manzanillo's coastal and port ecosystems, the National Port System Administration Manzanillo (ASIPONA) carried out the "Guardians of the Port and Nature" summer course, a learning space designed to strengthen environmental culture through theoretical and practical activities.

During the course, held from August 3rd to 7th, children aged 9 to 12 participated, receiving training from specialists in environmental, maritime, and port topics.

Throughout the week, participants engaged in activities both at ASIPONA's facilities and at various sites of interest in the municipality, where they learned about the richness of local ecosystems, the importance of conserving biodiversity, the responsible use of natural resources, and the strategic role played by the Port of Manzanillo in Mexico's economic and logistical development.

In addition to strengthening their environmental awareness, the experiences lived during the course allowed attendees to generate a greater sense of belonging and understanding of the port's relevance and its coexistence with the natural environment.

This first edition was conducted as a pilot test, which will allow for evaluation and enrichment of its content and methodology so that, in future editions, it can be expanded and opened to the general public.

For ASIPONA Manzanillo, it is fundamental to bring new generations closer to the knowledge of their port and its surrounding environment, promoting from childhood a culture of respect for the environment and the recognition of the role played by Mexico's main commercial port as an engine of the country's economic, logistical, and social development.
