Video: U.S. Forces Board and Redirect Iranian Product Tanker
U.S. Marines boarded and searched the Iranian-flagged tanker Celestial Sea (11,479 dwt) on May 20, 2026, in the Gulf of Oman, suspecting it was attempting to violate the U.S. blockade. The vessel was released after inspection but ordered to alter course. CENTCOM reports it has now redirected 91 commercial ships, while the U.S. Treasury added 19 more tankers to its sanction list.
