Cargo Vessel Catches Fire After Explosion in Strait of Hormuz; Cause Being Investigated
The cargo vessel HMM Namu caught fire on 4 May while sailing in the Strait of Hormuz, accompanied by an explosion from the engine room. Although the exact cause remains uncertain—whether from external attack or internal mechanical failure—all 24 crew members are safe. The fire was extinguished within four hours using the ship's internal firefighting systems, and the vessel will be towed to Dubai for detailed investigation and forensic examination.
