Carnival Defends Gulf Coast Dominance as Royal Caribbean Expands in Texas
Carnival Corporation defended its Gulf Coast position during its Q2 2026 earnings call, with CEO Josh Weinstein highlighting the company's 25-year head start and approximately 1 million annual guests from Galveston. The company operates six ships from the market, expanding to seven with Carnival Tropicale's 2028 arrival. Weinstein emphasized destination investments at Isla Tropicale in Roatan and Puerto Maya in Cozumel as competitive advantages against Royal Caribbean's Texas expansion plans.
