Silversea's ship Silver Whisper diverts in mid-Pacific to assist disabled yacht
Silversea's Silver Whisper diverted from its 24-day Transpacific Reposition Spring voyage from Papeete (Tahiti) to Vancouver (Canada) on Tuesday, May 26th, after responding to a distress call from a disabled sailing yacht in the Pacific Ocean. The vessel's Captain Michele Macarone Palmieri altered course to assist the stricken yacht, which had lost its mast. Working in coordination with USCG authorities, the ship's crew successfully transferred the injured sailor to the vessel for medical attention before resuming its scheduled passage.
