Maersk Renames Emergency Fuel Surcharge for U.S. and Canada Intermodal Operations
Maersk will rename its Emergency Intermodal Fuel Surcharge effective July 10, 2026, for shipments through inland rail ramps and container yards in the United States and Canada. Imports will be invoiced as "Emergency Operational Cost Recovery" while exports as "Emergency Operational Cost Exports." Current surcharge levels remain unchanged: $200 USD for dry containers and $250 USD for reefer containers on imports; $100 USD and $150 USD respectively on exports. The change aims to provide clearer visibility of applicable fuel charges.
