Retailers Forecast Early US Import Peak Season Followed by Further Declines
The National Retail Federation expects retailers to accelerate imports ahead of potential tariff and fuel cost increases, creating an early peak season. The NRF forecasts year-over-year increases for May (2.14 million TEU) and June (2.25 million TEU), with June likely the best month of the year. However, the overall trend points to lower imports as economic uncertainty persists, with declines expected for July, August, and September.
