Russia-linked LNG Carrier 'Merkuriy' Loads at Arctic Hub, Expanding Shadow Fleet Capacity
The LNG carrier Merkuriy, recently reflagged to Russia alongside three other vessels from Oman's Asyad Shipping fleet, has been observed loading liquefied natural gas at the Saam floating storage unit supporting Arctic LNG 2. The four ships, acquired for roughly $110 million earlier this year, could increase the project's export transport capacity by approximately 40% if fully integrated into operations, easing bottlenecks created by sanctions.
