Russia Expands LNG Dark Fleet With Four Tankers to Boost Exports
Four liquefied natural gas tankers formerly servicing Oman's export plant are now loading fuel from the US-sanctioned Arctic LNG 2 project near Murmansk. The vessels—Kosmos, Merkuriy, Orion, and Luch—represent Russia's latest effort to circumvent Western sanctions and expand LNG exports. Bloomberg analysis indicates at least 20 tankers now ferry LNG from sanctioned Russian projects, as Moscow capitalizes on high Asian demand amid the Strait of Hormuz closure.
