Port of Vancouver Launches Battery-Electric Container Truck Pilot Program
The Port of Vancouver has begun operating electric container trucks through the Electric Container Transportation Program (Electra), which involves five companies operating six trucks. The program offers subsidized five-year lease agreements and electric charging infrastructure, with an estimated total support of $3 million from Transport Canada, the Province of British Columbia, and the port authority. During the first 12 months of service, operational data will be collected to inform the future adoption of this technology.
