French Navy Seizes Cameroonian Tanker Off Sicily for Maritime Law Violation
The French Navy intercepted the crude oil tanker Deliver on 23 June while transiting off Sicily, citing violation of maritime law. The 2000-built, 274.2-metre vessel was sailing under the Cameroonian flag from Primorsk, Russia, en route to Singapore. French President Emmanuel Macron linked the operation to Europe's crackdown on Russia's shadow fleet, which evades sanctions and funds Russia's war effort. France has reportedly intercepted at least five tankers linked to this network.
