Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has acquired a 1,674 TEU vessel from its Brazilian subsidiary Log-In Logistica for a reported value of 17.5 million dollars. The vessel is expected to be re-chartered by Log-In.
"The Log In Pantanal (Aker CS 1700 design) was built in 2007 in Germany by the MTW shipyard in Wismar. Originally, and for a brief period, it operated under the name CFS Panama for the German shipowner Harren & Partners, before Log-In purchased it in 2007," reported Alphaliner.
The vessel has a deadweight of 23,821 tons, a length of 182.50 meters, and a beam of 25.20 meters. It is equipped with three 45-ton cranes and has 300 connections for refrigerated containers.
Log-In Logistica has been under the majority control of MSC since 2021, the year in which the Switzerland-based shipping company acquired a 67% stake in the company.
To date, Log-In operates a fleet of nine container ships with capacities ranging from 1,674 TEU to 3,158 TEU, which is deployed in both Brazilian cabotage and trade routes linked to Mercosur.
