One Seafarer Killed, More Injured as Russia Attacks Ships off Ukraine
Russian drone attacks on commercial shipping off Ukraine intensified on June 19, 2026, killing one seafarer and injuring five others aboard two merchant vessels departing Ukrainian ports. One Panamanian-flagged ship suffered one fatality and two wounded crew members, while a Saint Kitts and Nevis-registered vessel reported three crew members with light injuries. Ukraine reports over 1,500 drone attacks on its ports since the start of 2026, with Russia having damaged or destroyed 966 port infrastructure facilities and hit more than 200 commercial vessels since 2022.
