Trump Announces End of U.S. Naval Blockade of Iran with Conditions for Strait of Hormuz

Donald Trump announced on Friday that the U.S. will lift its naval blockade of Iran as part of ceasefire conditions, though without specifying a timeline. According to CENTCOM, 115 commercial vessels have been redirected during the blockade. Bloomberg reports that 29 of 109 supertankers trapped in the Persian Gulf have escaped or gained Iranian permission to transit. The blockade has halted Iran's oil exports, with approximately 60 million barrels of crude worth nearly $6 billion currently trapped, according to TankerTrackers.com.
